I had the day today that I needed. The children worked hard with their school work today and were finished early, I left all the household chores - very very sick of washing and cleaning up that is demolished again in five minutes flat and I spent some time with my sewing machine.
I finished these two stitcheries a few weeks back but only made them up into the needlecases today. They are Christmas presents, very enjoyable to make. This was one of the projects at Girls Day Out in the Country back in March, by Rosalie Quinlan.
I must say that I am very pleased to have these sitting in my basket alongside some pincushions that I am also making for small Christmas gifts.
Do you make things during the year to put away for Christmas????
Not finished yet, but I have done all I can on the machine for this hexagon needlecase, also by Rosalie Quinlan. Don't mind some crooked stitches - I got a bit distracted last night watching the tv show with the badly behaved teenagers, very pleased that my 9 yr old is quite disgusted with their behaviour!
I will finish the handstitching on it tonight and show you tomorrow, I have changed something. Can't help it!
Are any of you joining in Jenny of Elefantz challenge to make a sewing machine cover by the end of August????
I am pondering over which fabric to choose.....
and if I will use one piece of fabric or piece something....
so many options!

Hi Bec...glad you had a productive day, your needlecases look great! I have a few gifts put aside, but I tend to sew as it is getting closer & I do my pressie list. I always aim to be more organised, but never quite get there!
Wow! they look so pretty...lucky recipients.
I don't make many handmade items for Christmas presents as most of my relatives don't realise how much time and effort goes into handmade items, I mainly make for my Mum and daughters, a shame realy as it would make Christmas much more fun
Hi Bec, thanks for stopping by my site. By the looks of things, you have had my dream day. I am only getting to sew after I knock off work, after doing a bit of house work. sooo sick of house work - you are right, it done only to get undone in less than half the time.
My day is tomorrow, sewing here I come :)
Cheers Ellice
Beautiful stitching once again. I wish I was as organised as you. I tend to be a last minute panic stitcher when it comes to gifts. I usually get a couple made.
Nice stitching! Rosalie has such cute patterns. I never really know until the last minute who I'm going to need a gift for, so if I can whip something up quickly, they get handmade. Otherwise, it's a tray of homemade goodies or jar of jelly wrapped pretty!

I so need to be on your Christmas list!

I think about making Christmas gifts and then wait until it's too late and then they become the following years gifts. But not this year - I promise, hopefully, maybe.
Just gorgous Bec.... lucky recipients :+) I will have to get a wriggle on with my gifts
x Sarah
Aw, Bec, they are really, really sweet!! Your family and friends are SO blessed to receive these gifts of love from you! :-)
I tend to make up a fair amount of stitcheries during the year, then wait for October to start working them into actual projects for gifts.
I am a last minute person, I am not preparing for Christmas yet. I think it is great to do as you do.
Hi again Bec, yes i have just signed up for the challenge, I didn't notice it before - my eyes were on strike, and only partially reading things. I now need to choose the fabrics, and decide how I am going to do this.
well kiddo you have done it again...just gorgeous...
Hey Bec! Your needlecases look great! And how organised are you!! I used to be sooooo organised when it came to birthdays and Christmas - I would start on the Christmas gifts around June! These days, life seems to get more and more hectic and I find myself constantly a couple of birthday's behind, never mind thinking about Christmas!! EEK!! Will look forward to seeing your hexi case finished - Bear Hugs! KRIS
