Baby Quilts

Here is a pair of baby quilts that I made last month, called 'Baby Woodlands'.

Woodlands because of the rail blocks resembling tree trunks of a wooded area, and the baby part because it is only a small wood!
I used a WeePlay jellyroll, love American Jane's fabrics and stunning colours. Also love the era that they represent.
I have more to tell you about these quilts but it will have to wait until next week as I have a few final bits to sort out before I can share everything.... it's very exciting!

Now time till the end of this month is limited. I am having trouble sticking to my organisational list for sewing. From my list I need to be making a bag for a friends birthday and quilting another baby quilt that I have finished the top for.
I want to leave the baby quilt until June because I am attending a quilting workshop by Deborah Louie and think it would be great to have a play with the baby quilt after attending the workshop, you know - a quilt that is a quilt but not so big as most!
So in order to stick to my personal challenge I need to quilt something and bind it this month. I have another quilt (rather large) all basted ready to go. This is fine. HOWEVER I also want to finish piecing THREE quilt tops before attending the quilting class, so I can take them along.
I am really torn as to where to put my priorities at present. Which to finish first.
Time is another factor. With our winterish days I am not finding any (or very little) time to sew in the afternoons and tend to not want to of a morning or evening due to it being so cold in the study where the machine is. These are the times of day I want to snuggle up with a book..... My daytime hours seem to fill fairly quickly with chores, schooling and generally being with and looking after the five children. My next two weekends are gone, no time for sewing when I am needed elsewhere for all day.... soccer and cattlework.
*grin* OK OK OK I hear you, I need to be strict with myself and resist the book snuggle time, and get sewing! Mornings and evenings are the time I need to make use of to get all this sewing done. I have HEAPS to get done in the next fortnight. *grin* better get cracking!
Out of curiosity, how do you manage your sewing time? Is it when it takes the urge, a regular time or do you have to schedule it strictly????

Your baby quilts are really beautiful...love the fabric & the simplicity of design. Time will always be an issue...I love lists but life is hectic & unpredictable. Good luck!

Your baby quilts are adorable. I love that it's "OK" to use colors other than "baby colors" in the things that we make for the wee ones now-a-days. As for sewing time...My time is never scheduled. My work schedule, unfortunately, rules my life and my days off are always different. I sew when I have time, be it morning, noon, or in the middle of the night;) Good luck;)

Cute quilts!
I have the schedule quilting time; usually the whole day once a week when I'm not at work, then most of Saturday. Other than that, I just take what I can get!

What's the news?! My mind is racing with possibilities... ;) (Twins?!) Your quilts are beautiful. I too struggle to find time to sew. Cardygirl assures me my time will come one day!! I sew whenever I can. Playschool twice a day is a good chance for me to sit and do stitching on the lounge with the kids!!

My word verification is "pram use"!

Bec, can you move the sewing machine into a warmer part of the house for the winter season? I know it may cause clutter but if it gets the work done then it's worth it for a few months. :-)
I have some design commitments I need to keep to now, so from next week I am scheduling myself some 'working' hours each day...and I know that's easier for me than you because my 'baby' is 15 next week.
I'm praying a special prayer for you, that God will show you how to manage your time to be productive.
Hugs!!

I used to try to schedule time but somehow it just always got interupted. You know - the kids never seem to think you are doing anyhting important. Now I break down the projects into steps in the hope that I can do one step at a time. Great Idea but it doesn't work for me at the moment becuase there are always so many other things which need to be done. I don't have a solution for you but going by what I see you are doing quite well. The Wee Play quilts are really cute.

I'm not sure you can say I "manage" my sewing time. I sometimes grab some time whilst ignoring the house work or ironing. Another time I try to get some done is after lunch for an hour before I collect my son from school. After he has gone to bed I can often be found in my sewing room while my husband is outside in his workshop tinkering with engines. We usually meet up just before its time for bed!

I love the wee play range too and have a quilt made out of it drapped over my sofa at the moment... I never tire of looking at it... *^-^*
Don't be to hard on yourself with your lake of time at the moment... You're amazing at what you do and I'm sure you'll get it all done, if not now some time soon...

Take Care

Love love love these new quilts.
You are a very busy girl *grin*....
Now as for my sewing schedule. I am hopeless with schedules so I don't commit myself to promises or presents etc.
I get as little housework done as possible and stitch whenever I can. Mainly at night. Now instead of blogging....*grin*

Really Bec! The pressure we put on ourselves!!!!

I stitch/quilt when I can. Home/family needs come first then I sit for me...

I so like the baby quilt colour. Bright and cheerful :O)
