I had an email from Sue Zipkin; she is so excited about the quilt I made using her scrumptious fabrics that she has posted it on her blog, and what a lovely blog it is too, definately worth a look. Today is a beautiful sunny day, much better for photos than the other day.
It is sooo awesome when deisgners are excited about you using/making their designs! Don't mind the quilt looking a little rumpled today, dh has spent a few evenings snoozing under it in front of the tv!
I remember last year when Lynette Anderson posted her cushion design that I made for my grandparents, you couldn't wipe the grin off my face!
Love this button I found at Kerry's.
You can buy the Japanese Indigo jellyrolls from Karen at The Stitching Post, in Katoomba. She said she has seen a stunning quilt made with them. I made the Melly & Me 'Black Forrest' bag.
There is LOTS of room inside, it is a really good size bag. I did do things a little different, as usual! I made an extra section inside the bag, was going to do two but thought I would see how the first one would turn out, and it turned out great!
I used a plain navy (Moda Solids) for the lining and side panels.
If you look closely you can see that I did use three jelly strips sewn together for the pockets, the highly patterned strip I used was ideal as it isn't easy to spot unless you are looking closely.
*sigh* the picture caught a shadow highlighting the seam on the left hand side..... so this wasn't the best picture to show you!

I so like your bag, I keep thinking I'd like to make a new bag, but can't decide on what colour would go with which clothes. But those lovely indigo colours would go with everything. What a good idea.
The bag is lovely- love the fabric, especially the owls...SO CUTE!
I just love how your bag turned out..its gorgeous!! :o)
and I say the same...cute Owls...:o)
Your bag turned out great and the blue will go with everything;) I too have to agree...the owls are adorable;) Love your button, too. A perfect match to the fabrics;)
Just gorgeous Bec and you've finished it already! WOW!
How exciting that your quilt has been featured on the designers blog. Another WOW! I'm sure it will take a few days to wipe that grin off. xx
I LOVE indigo. I LOVE bags. I LOVE Melly & Me. I LOVE the Black Forest Bag. GORGEOUS!!!
I made the Black Forest Bag in black, white and yellow...called it Bees in the Forest.
Congrats on being "featured" on the designer's blog. It was worthy.
Terrific bag Bec, and it looks divine in those gorgeous fabrics. Very cute owls and great button.
What a great Jelly Roll bag! Love it! 8-)
I love the quilt. I remember selling that range of fabric to the shops and loving it - even though I was only looking at paper samples. You've done a great job. Lovely blog.
Cute Bec! It's really cool!! Well done! How are the baby quilts going??!
I love the bag and the quilt. You are more than good at what you do.
WOW Bec the bag is AMAZING!!!! thanks so much for emailing us and sharing the beautiful photos. I love how you have put the bag together with strips and I hope you will really enjoy wearing and using it! And your quilt is stunning too!! You have done an amazing job on both projects and you should be so proud =]
Lovely bag Bec and the Nundle button looks great with it. I am still thinking about the one I got with the rose on it....they are so lovely you want them to have 'centre stage', so I will have to come up with something worthy of it. Well done.
Many Blessings
