Gardeners Journal

This is block G from Anni Downs A Gardener's Journal quilt that I am doing with the Stitch-A-Long group. This block was meant to be finished back in April....and I was meant to have block A finished in May....
I am very pleased now that my fabrics are cut and bagged up in their blocks, so I am hoping to progress more quickly now.
You have to have a look at the Stitch-A-Long blog, the quilts are coming along beautifully and they all look fantastic in all the different colours and fabrics!
(and it's not too late to join in)

I recently renewed my subscription to Australian Quilters Companion and they sent me this little bundle of FQs for free. They are just gorgeous and I can see bits of them being used in lots of projects. Last year I bit the bullet and subscribed to three magazines; something I had never done before, mostly due to the initial cost. However it has paid off. My magazines come to me in the mail so I no longer have wasted trips to the newsagent to check if the next one is out. It also saves me money because I am not going into the newsagent and coming out with unplanned purchases! Last of all, the free gifts are fantastic. When I subscribed to Australian Homespun last year I recieved a pair of the Scissoroo scissors which are worth a bit of money, I love them! Not all magazines offer free gifts for subscribing, but having my magazines delivered to my mailbox (I can't say door because the mail box is quite a drive from the house) with no extra mailing costs is great! Do you subscribe to any crafting magazines???
We've had a lot of icy cold weather here lately, how are things your way???

That block looks lovely, and I'm sure you'll be able to catch up now the cooler weather has arrived. It's officially summer here, but we've only had a few days where it's been warm enough to wear summer clothes. I subscribe to just one magazine, Popular Patchwork, but am thinking about subscribing to one of the Australian magazines, as they have such lovely things in them. Which one would you recommend?

Your GJ is lovely Bec! I subscribe to both Homespun and Country Threads. I love my Homespun and anxiously await for its arrival...and have got some really good freebies when renewing my subscription. I'm not even sure if our local newsagent gets Quilters Companion mag...will have to have a look at that one!
Freezing cold here on the east coast of Tassie!

Nice work on your GJ.
I had a patchwork & Stitching subscription & there were no extras...& I agree a fabric freebie is fantastic. It's really cold here...6-12 degrees today...think Hobart was 7-9.

Your GJ is coming along nicely. I also received the fat quarters. I subscribe to far too many magazines. I won't embarrass myself by listing them. However, for most I opt for the cheaper subscription rather than the freebies. I agree that it is the best way to buy them, heaps of savings over getting them at the newsagency.
