Frances

Well I was able to get LOTS done this weekend!
This quilt top, Frances, has been cut and partially pieced for almost two years now..... I used a jellyroll a charm pack and less than a metre of yardage for the border (and binding to come). The range is an old one, Folklorique by Fig Tree Quilts, love LOVE the colours.
Due to my not sewing for about four weeks recently I really REALLY wanted to be able to finish this quilt top this weekend - YEAAAHHH!
Now to baste and quilt.
Last night when I had had enough of piecing the borders for Frances, I finished this quilt top.
Roses de Noel by the Sea
The fabric is Roses de Noel and the quilt pattern is By the Sea from the book Charm Quilts by Suzanne McNeill; hence the name! I used a dessert roll for this WHOLE quilt; and only had to purchase backing (2.5m) aside from the dessert roll. The borders were meant to use charm squares but to be different I used 10 inch rectangle with some charm squares.
I loved making this quilt, it came together fairly fast.
This one is for my christmas stash, the only quilt and it is a combined belated birthday present and christmas present.
Only Baste'n'Quilt to come for this baby!
This afternoon I put together as much as I could of another christmas stash present. In order to finish it the stitchery needs finishing! I used five fat quarters of Tanya Whelan's Barefoot Roses range. The peg bag could easily be made without the stitchery, but I loved it too, and am completing it in a pink/red varigate thread.
Thanks Catherine! xxx

Last week I read this book. FABULOUS!
Now it isn't Elm Creek Quilts but it was very hard to put down!
Looking forward to reading more in this series, there are five.

Ow, I haven't read Lovers Knot, will have to book it from the library. Love her books.
Gosh all of your sewing is lovely. The Rose deNoel charm squares are lovely and the top quilt is stunning all finished.

I've read four of the Emilie Richards books so far. I have enjoyed them but I still think the first one is my favourite. Definately a series that is fun to follow too.
Glad to see you sewing. I am feeling so frustrated at the moment because I don't know where to start or what to finish. I'll get there though.

You have been busy. Doesn't it feel good to finish up ufo's. Now you can enjoy them instead of feeling guilty about them. Love the all, really like the first - love the border on it. Wish I could figure out how to read and sew at the same time.
