As you can see from the 'layering' on my sewing bench that it has been a while since I have done any sewing. In fact it has been about two weeks since I did anything worthwhile.
Life has just taken over.
Things have been busy house wise, yard wise, homeschool wise and kid wise. Everything takes time, and sometimes you just have to step back and concentrate on having the basics running smoothly for a time.
I have done a lot of quilt browsing though!
It is warming up here in Australia and the flannel sheets are overdue to be off the beds, shorts/tshirts need to be back in the cupboards; and on the dark side the snakes are starting to come out of their hibernation. It looks like we are heading for a dry spring, the news says no decent rain till Christmas. It is certainly dry.
This evening, in that beautiful cool semi-dark time, I watered some of our trees and shrubs in the house yard. It was very peaceful and relaxing.
The slow combustion stove went out today, I forgot to feed it, and it doesn't look like it will be re-lit. I am going to miss cooking on it, alot. However how that tiny kitchen of ours heats up with it, I am glad to not be in such heat.
Seasons are changing. We start swimming lessons next week, the children are very excited about that. I miss swimming but do not want a pool here yet, not with so many little ones about.
I will be back tomorrow with a special 'early' post as I won't be able to post this weekend.
I have missed catching up with my blogging friends and reading everyones lovely comments, know that every comment and email is special. Thanks!

Was there a birthday at your place?????
A girl can only do what she can do. I'm sure you'll get back to your sewing soon enough.
There has been that definite season change in the last week or so. We've let our wood heater go out, but I'm sure we'll get one more cold snap just to remind us where we live.
I think everything we do is worthwhile, but the problem is as mothers it sometimes seems to me that whatever I do just has to be redone - you know - dishes, laundry, cleaning. That's why I like sewing - it has a permanence to it. But, just sitting and talking with your husband or playing a game with the kids now those are the really worthwhile things. Though I know how frustrating it can be to try to sit down and sew for a few minutes and just not be able to.
Yes life and work does get in the way of sewing. The weather is heating up, but we have had a lot of rain here in the last couple of days - and looking like getting more in the next couple of days. I hope the snakes don't get too friendly though. One thing I am looking forward to is the return of the lizards to my yard.
Blessings

Its funny how we have opposite weather I was just thinking that pretty soon we could start having fires again.
Hope you get back on top of things really soon... :) Take care and know that we'll all still be here when you have time again!!
Hi Bec,
I totally relate (on a smaller scale) to what you are saying, everything just seems to be moving so quickly out doors now and theres so much to do. I has warmed up really quickly here too, but we do seem to have a stage where we will drop back again for a couple of weeks most years. Nice to hear from you thanks for the emails too :)
life sure is out of control here too........no sewing time fitted in.....
oh and on Tuesday I saw a big snake track...........right at the front gate.......I HATE them......but is sure has got warm enough.........
Happy Birthday for tomorrow..........
Great to see you again Bec. You are not kidding about life just getting in the way and taking over. The weeks just seem to be flying past and I can't believe that the school hols are only two weeks away. It seems like only a couple of weeks ago that they went back after the last hols. I seem to do so much running around taking the kids places that I am sure that I pass myself going into town as I am coming home. The weather is warming up here as well but thankfully in town we don't see hardly any snakes - thank goodness because I have a real snake phobia. I have been known to lock myself in the house until I know they have gone. Cheers Kylie
Spring coming!?! ... and we are heading into Fall... Tis a very Fall day here today. Yesterday, though the sun was shining and warm, the wind was definitely a Fall wind with a coolness in it. I have a feeling it is going to be a long winter this year...
I haven't done much sewing for a while either, and with your brood there, it is no wonder "life" takes over at times... I am actually amazed at what you do accomplish on your quilting with homeschooling your children, home building projects, yard care, and all... you rock!!! 8-)
