Free Bag Pattern at Sarah's......

Things are moving along here, which is why I haven't posted for a while. We haven't had power and phones for a few days either. This has been because of storms and demolition work.
Sarah is celebrating a blogaversary and has a free bag pattern to giveaway. This is her bag that I made, using Flower Sugar fabrics by Lecien. You can buy this range at Honeysuckle Cottage, Quilt Fabric Delights and not sure about Cottage on the Hill, you will have to check with Kerry. The bag is called the Hour bag, it is really fast to make up, and no doubt will be very handy. There is no end to the added bits you can do to this bag, add a stitchery, front pocket, applique......

Finally I am up to stitching the binding down on the Cotton Blossoms quilt I have been working on. I am hoping to finish this real soon, so it can be marked down as my January finish for Kris and May Britt's Challenge.

Winifred, from Kerry's doll making day, is coming along. Not much left to go on her now, then I can tuck her away for Brianna's birthday later in the year. I thought it would be a really nice gift for my 8 yr old daughter, and extra special because she attended the doll making day and helped me make her.

I am ready to baste this quilt to quilt. I used a layer cake for the top and just bought backing and binding extra. The Fig and Plum layer cake (Moda) worked out well, I kept the dark plum colours out for the applique. The tricky bit will be the quilting. This quilt needs circles and swirls; which is out of my experience at present. So to start with I will ditch all possibles, then go around the appliques, then do one block at a time. This is a birthday present.

In case my artistic applique isn't too good, they are meant to be roses.

Kim at Honeysuckle Cottage is having Deborah Louie come in June for two 2-day quilting classes, numbers are very limited and I am going! I couldn't pass this opportunity up and am very exicted and looking forward to having some quilting lessons. Kim tells me that Deborah will return in future years too..... Email her kim@honeysucklecottage.com.au if you would like further details.

The pincushion of the month from Quilt Fabric Delights is by Leanne Beasley this time, and there isn't one pincushion but FIVE! They are all lovely in the style you would expect from Leanne, very pretty with lots of butterflies! I am going to make these, and some extras, for christmas gifts.

You may have noticed that I am not using the threads sent, this is personal preference. After using some Maderia threads at Cottage on the Hill, I have been using these where I can. I LOVE them.
This is something else I have been working on. Would love to know what you think of it. My aplogies for the lighting. The thread is a varigated burnt orange/reddish sort of colour.

In case you don't know, but Sarah sells on ebay. jellyrolls. layer cakes. charm packs. patterns. She has a fabulous selection, so go check her out.

This is what is happening at my place. Any cleanup volunteers????

Thanks for the link for the bag tutorial!
You've been keeping busy! Looking like, where you couldn't be on the comp, you were definitely in the sew, and possibly in the demolition!!! 8-)
By the time I make arrangements and actually get out there to help you all with the cleanup, you'll probably be done!
Your quilty works are looking wonderful!
Happy stitchings!

Love that quilt (wink). Sarah sent me the jelly roll of that fabric and I have the perfect pattern for it. Just got to finish the projects first before I start that one.

Looks like you're managing to stay busy, even with your demolition! I love the Fig and Plum. I have a charm pack and haven't decided how to use it yet.
